THE JEWISH CONNECTION Before 1948 there were some Jewish people who converted to Christianity. However, since Israel became a independent nation in 1948, something unique and Bible prophecy fulfilling, began to occur. Something called "Messianic Judaism" appeared on the scene. These are Jews, who continue to practice Judaism, but who have come to believe that Yeshua (the Hebrew name for Jesus) was and is the promised Messiah of Israel. They accept the New Testament, written by Jews to Jews, as the inspired Word of God, equal with the Old Testament Scriptures. This movement has mushroomed since the 1967 War in which Israel took the city of Jerusalem. Today there are Messianic Jewish synagogues in nearly every country of the world, with large numbers of Messianic Jews in Israel and more than 100,000 in the United States. This movement should be of interest to Christians, because it is an end-of-the-age phenominum, the fulfillment of the ancient Jewish prophets as written in the Jewish Scriptures (the Old Testament).
