THE CHARACTERS OF THE CHRISTMAS STORY
"Unto you is born this day in the City of Davida Savior which is Christ the Lord"
There are a total of seven chapters given over to an in depth look at the individual characters which make up the Christmas story.
Chapter 1 - Zacharias and Elizabeth
This is the story of the miraculous birth of John the Baptist, a cousin of Jesus, who eventually baptized the Lord of Glory in the Jordan River.
Also covered, from Jewish history, is the fleeing of Elizabeth and the baby into the wilderness and the murder of Zacharias in the Temple before the altar.
Chapter 2 - Mary
Mary lived in Nazareth (Netzeret, in Hebrew). It comes from the Netzer Clan of the House of David - Netzer: meaning "Branch" in Hebrew. Jesus would be the Netzer (the Branch out of the House of Jesse, David's father); referred to five times in the Old Testament.
Mary was a virgin - fulfilling the Prophet Isaiah's prediction.
We also cover Mary's three month long visit to her Aunt Elizabeth in Judea.
Chapter 3 - Joseph
Joseph's genealogy in Matthew's Gospel links him directly to the royal Davidic family.
Joseph was an observant Orthodox Jew; following the Law of Moses to the "T."
Chapter 4 - The Birth of Jesus
Using NASA's astrological calculations it is possible to know exactly when Jesus was born. He was born on the first day of the Feast of Tabernacles, 3 BC.
Check out the miracle God had to arrange to get Joseph and Mary the five day journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, where the Old Testament prophet predicted that Messiah would be born.
Discover what the manger and the swaddling cloths really were, and why Jesus had to be born in a manger in a sheep shed in order to fulfill Old Testament prophecies.
We also look at how this observant Jewish family fulfilled the requirements of the Law of Moses following the birth of a child.
Chapter 5 - The Shepherds and the Angels
Who were these shepherds on the hillside outside Bethlehem? They were no common ordinary shepherds.
We'll also check out the angels' message and the visit of the shepherds to the manger.
Chapter 6 - The Wise Men
Who were these "Wise Men," and what was their connection to the Prophet Daniel?
Were there three Wise Men, or perhaps many more; and what really were those gifts they brought?
What was the star they saw? We can now know through NASA calculations; and will it happen again when Jesus returns (Revelation)?
Chapter 7 - Relevance to the 21st Century
What you do with this story will not only map out the direction of your life in the here and now; but it will also determine your eternal destiny.
God created you for a relationship with Him. However, because of sin (rebellion against God), you were born body, soul, and dead spirit. Jesus said that unless you are "born again" - your dead spirit given life - you will never see the Kingdom of God, and you can never have a personal relationship with Him. We'll tell you how you can have your dead spirit made "alive unto God."
